MODERNISM WEEK STARTS FEBRUARY 15TH 2018 IN PALM SPRINGS, CA

It’s here! Modernism Week in Palm Springs. I love this time of year. The weather is great and there are so many cool things happening here in the Desert. Concerts, art shows, the hiking trails are full of happy people and lets not forget the Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival. Now lets get serious about Modernism Week. Beginning February 15th, 2018 and lasting for 10 fun days, Palm Springs will celebrate Mid-Century architecture, design and culture. The purpose of Modernism Week is to celebrate the appreciation of mid-century architecture and design, as well as contemporary thinking in these fields, by encouraging education, preservation and sustainable modern living as represented in the greater Palm Springs area. While there are many “modern” homes here in the Coachella Valley, Palm Springs seems to be the place where the action is. With more than 300 events including the Modernism Show & Sale, Signature Home Tours, films, lectures, Premier Double Decker Architectural Bus Tours (this is so cool),  live music, walking and bike tours, tours of Sunnylands, fashion,  modern garden tours, a vintage travel trailer exhibition, and more. Its the perfect chance to take in as much culture as possible. Show your children, bring your parents, have a few drinks with friends under the misting system. If you have a chance definitely try to get tickets for the Movie Colony tour. Modern Misting Systems has installed numerous misting systems here in Palm Springs. You probably wont see many on the really old homes as most of the builders/architects like to keep the modern look very clean and without adding much.
