Do outdoor misting systems really work on a residential patio?
Do outdoor misting systems really work on a residential patio?
I must answer this question 100 times per week. The answer is YES, residential misting systems really do work!! And misting systems are no longer just for restaurants and hotels. Homeowners throughout the Southwest are investing in their backyards. Not only are they building pools, they are installing misting systems, artificial grass, putting greens and BBQ islands. Lets look at a few reason why people are choosing to create a backyard paradise instead of remodeling their bathroom.
Entertainment:
If you live in the desert then nine out of 12 months you can entertain outside. Whether it be a pool party, Birthday party or just a family bbq. People love to get together and mingle. BUT and this is a huge but. If it’s 115 degrees outside and there is no relief except some water bottles, people are not going to hang out in the heat, they are going to sit inside. And what fun is a bbq if everyone is crowded in your living room? I, for one enjoy the outdoors and if you invite me over to bbq, then I expect it to be relaxing outside under the misters. According to the Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Association, the entire outdoor “leisure lifestyle” category is now a $6.2 billion industry. Misting Systems scream relaxation. It reminds people of vacation, and who doesn’t love to be or at least think of vacation?
Animal Cooling:
Misting Systems for Dogs? People think we are crazy! We have two large dogs. Hooch who is a 150 pound Bullmastiff he is 10, and Murphy who is 5 and is a Belgian Malinois. During the Summer I do my best to leave the dogs inside. The heat is just too much for them. Hooch has a hard time breathing if he is overheated and Murphy never slows down, he is always on the go. On the rare occasion I have to leave the house for a long period of time, you bet I have those misters on for my pups. I spoke a little about animal cooling in a previous post, but I don’t mind saying it again. Our dogs are part of our family, I wouldn’t leave my children outside with no relief. A misting system installed for your animals is such a small expense. I guarantee a trip to the Vet because your dog has overheated will cost more! And one last thing. It goes with out saying, but NEVER EVER EVER leave your dogs in the car. Not even for a minute. Always leave lots of water outside for them. If you don’t have a pool, please invest in a small kiddie pool. Your dogs will thank you for it.
Real Estate:
I can’t tell you how many times I have heard……”The outdoor misting system was one of the main reasons I bought this house” Let’s face it, here in the desert an outdoor living area really sells a home. Having an outdoor living/entertaining area is like adding another room to your house. Kristen Kalepp of Keller Williams Realty states that 82% of people she is selling homes to actually base their purchase on the backyard or entertaining area. This lifestyle is what people retire for. They come here from all over the United States. So before you decide to list your home, take a look at your backyard. Does it have the curb appeal that people are looking for? Does it have a high pressure misting system?
